unless we find any more typos, i’ll publish the following text as draft-dejong-remotestorage-02 on 10 December:
Afaik, remotestorage.js 0.8.3 already supports this spec, and it should be possible to get all existing apps that are being actively maintained on to 0.8.3. Then, on 10 December, it will be safe for all servers to start offering only remotestorage-02.
After the last servers out there have moved away from rww#simple, remotestorage.js can then be simplified to only support -00, -01, and -02, and we can start dropping support for rww#simple servers.
as you can see, no new features were introduced. the main changes compared to -01 are to switch to the rfc-version of WebFinger, correct the 412/304 response code bug, and the text is a lot longer now because i added example wire transcripts as requested by several people, and a Computer Science style discussion of distributed versioning as suggested by Mark Nottingham at our Bar BoF this summer at the IETF meeting.
i’m also not planning any new features for version -03, so things should be getting pretty stable now, we can start focussing on the other points of the remotestorage.js roadmap.
